On January 21, 2010 several tonnes of gravel were spread on the causeway in anticipation of the weekend thaw. As expected it was absorbed into the soft spots & minimized the potholes and ruts. The hard freeze has again locked the road solid. Roy Amore has asked the town for guidance on what should be put in the areas of our road that have the worst potholes. Tony (of A'Burg) fears we are wasting our money putting stone down when the ground is frozen. The stones will fly out of the holes 'within 15 car passes' was his warning. Tony has decided that the most efficient thing was to put 'cold patches' in the worst of the potholes. He doesn't expect those to last of course, but it may help until new stones and grading can be done after the thaw. Please adjust your speed accordingly.
